WPC or Wood Plastic Composite is a new material made from natural wood and plastic fiber. Sawdust, bamboo, peanut husks, pulp, and carpentry waste such as bark are combined with plastic powder to form WPC.
Wood plastic composites can be made entirely from recycled materials collected from waste wood product manufacturing, and more.
Wood plastic composite is made from a material that initially forms a paste, so it is flexible and can be molded into nearly any size and shape, including bends and curves. WPC can be colored to match the design.
There are two types of WPC:
1. WPCS (Solid Wood Plastic Composite)
This type of WPC includes materials used for curved or straight boards. WPCS are usually found in common building materials.
2. WPCH (Hollow Wood Plastic Composite)
This type of WPC is usually used for gazebo roofs, fences, or terrace floors because this WPC section has holes like hollow iron.
Advantages of Wood Plastic Composite Material
WPC material consists of plastic fibers and sawdust, making it cheaper than natural wood material. Even though it is made of plastic fibers, WPC still has the same beauty and durability as wood. There are also several other advantages possessed by WPC, including:
- Resistant to water and chemicals
- It has good dimensional stability
- More attractive design
- Available in several sizes
- Less potential for cracking
- More durable in the long run
From a functional point of view, wood plastics composites are rot-resistant and moisture-resistant materials. This means that wood-plastic composites can last longer integrally and aesthetically than ordinary wood materials. WPC is also more heat resistant than regular wood, making a product that may be used in places where regular wood might buckle or rot.
WPC can be used for a variety of construction systems in important the same way as natural wood. Planing, drilling, and grinding with WPC is as easy as with wood.
In conclusion, WPC is a material that can be recycled because some of the material is made of plastic. WPC that has been used or damaged, can still be repaired and reproduced into a new WPC.
